H.E. Mr. Nilamber Acharya

B. 1943 A well-known political analyst, constitutional expert and civil society activist as well as Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of Nepal. A prominent political personality who fought for the restoration of multiparty democracy and became Law and Justice Minister after the restoration of democracy in Nepal in 1990. Played an important role in finalising the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal, 1990. Resigned from the Nepal Communist Party (Manandhar group) in February 1992. Highly regarded as an independent political thinker and public intellectual with strong democratic conviction. Has two books and numerous articles to his credit. Experience Member, Eminent Persons Group on Nepal-India relations 2016-2018 Member of the first Constituent Assembly 2008-2012 Chairman of Constitutionnel Committee of the Constituent Assembly (constitution drafting committee) 2009-2012 Has remained active all the time for constitutional democracy during different stages of political developments in Nepal.
